The Board of Directors governs ISCA. Each Board member is elected for a 3-year term.  The Board terms are staggered. Board members are required to serve on Standing and/or Ad Hoc Committees.

The Membership Committee serves some of the core functions of ISCA: 

 

  • Responsible for all activities fostering the maintenance and increase of Active Members of the Association 
  • Actively recruiting new members for the Association. 


ISCA committee membership is open to all with an interest and talent to contribute. You do not need to be on the Executive Board to be on a committee.

Conference Committee

Members & Responsibilities

The following are the members of the Conference Committee:

The Conference Committee is responsible for one of the most important functions: the ISCA Annual Conference.  Activities include: 

 

  • Assist in the planning and presentation of the Annual Conference of the Illinois Sister Cities Association for all Active Members
  • Plan Annual Meeting of Active Members at Annual Conference


ISCA committee membership is open to all with an interest and talent to contribute. You do not need to be on the Executive Board to be on a committee.

Leadership Development Committee

Members & Responsibilities

The following are the members of the Leadership Development Committee:

The Leadership Development Committee is responsible for developing and adding leadership talent for ISCA.  Major activities include: 

 

  • Responsibility and authority to seek out, develop, and nominate qualified persons to be members of the Board, and to report to the Board.
  • Recommend to the Board a list of nominees for membership on the Board to fill the vacancies resulting from resignation, termination, or any additional vacancies existing at the time of the Annual Meeting of the Active Members.

Audit & Finance Committee

Members & Responsibilities

The following are the members of the Audit & Finance Committee:

The Audit & Finance Committee is responsible for managing the financial aspects of the Association.  The key activities include:


  • Recommend actions with respect to funds, finances, obligations, sources of income, and advanced fiscal planning to the Board. 
  • Select two (2) persons who are members of Active Members in good standing, but who are not members of the Board, and who are qualified by reason of training and or experience to conduct an audit of the accounts of the treasurer and file their report.

The following are the members of the Awards Committee:

The Awards Committee is an ad-hoc committee with the responsibility to solicit, select, announce, and deliver the annual Sister City of the Year and the Champion of the Youth awards through a competitive process.  Key activities include:


  • Develop or revise criteria for award selection and communicate to the membership. 
  • Establish a timeline and the process of award application submission and evaluation. 
  •  Communicate and coordinate the award delivery with the winners 
  • Debrief the Board on the lessons learned and potential changes.

The Communications Committee has the responsibility to develop and execute the Association's communication strategy.  Key activities include:


  • Understand the communication needs of each segment of ISCA stakeholders
  • Develop strategies for the ISCA brand identity across all channels of communications
  • Create and implement plans to achieve goals and objectives

Technology Committee

The Technology Committee is an ad-hoc committee with the responsibility to develop and execute the Association's technology strategy.  Key activities include:


  • Develop an overall technology strategy for the Association.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain the website for the Association.
  • Evaluate various social media platforms, select, and establish a presence.
  • Develop and execute plans for technology support for the Association activities, such as databases, repositories, and branding.
